After testing products from American Dream Cookie Company, LLC, we found 6 products we allege to be in violation of Proposition 65 in regards to heavy metal contamination. Below is the timeline of events of the case between ERC and American Dream Cookie Company.
NOTICE I
On March 7, 2025, the Environmental Research Center filed a Notice of Violation of California Law Proposition 65, against American Dream Cookie Company, LLC.
In this action, ERC alleges that two specific products manufactured, distributed, or sold by American Dream Cookie contain lead and cadmium, chemicals listed under Proposition 65 as a carcinogens and reproductive toxins, and expose consumers to levels requiring a Proposition 65 warning.
The products under investigation are:
American Dream Cookie Co Peanut Butter Protein Cookie - Lead
American Dream Cookie Co Lemon Protein Cookie - Lead
American Dream Cookie Co Chocolate Peanut Butter Protein Cookie – Lead, Cadmium
NOTICE II
On March 26, 2025, the Environmental Research Center filed a Notice of Violation of California Law Proposition 65, against American Dream Cookie Company, LLC.
In this action, ERC alleges that two specific products manufactured, distributed, or sold by American Dream Cookie contain lead, a chemical listed under Proposition 65 as a carcinogens and reproductive toxin, and expose consumers to levels requiring a Proposition 65 warning.

American Dream Cookie Co Cake Batter Protein Cookie - Lead
American Dream Cookie Co Double Chocolate Protein Cookie - Lead
NOTICE III
On April 24, 2025, the Environmental Research Center filed a Notice of Violation of California Law Proposition 65, against American Dream Cookie Company, LLC.
In this action, ERC alleges that two specific products manufactured, distributed, or sold by American Dream Cookie contain lead and mercury, chemicals listed under Proposition 65 as carcinogens and reproductive toxins, and expose consumers to levels requiring a Proposition 65 warning.
The products under investigation are:
American Dream Double Butter Crunch Peanut Butter - Lead
American Dream Candy Cane Kisses Dream Cake - Lead
American Dream Cookie Batter Dream Cake - Lead
American Dream Brownie Batter Dream Cake – Lead, Mercury
American Dream Gingerdoodle Dream Cake – Lead, Mercury
SETTLEMENT
A settlement was reached on July 31, 2025. In full satisfaction of all potential civil penalties, additional settlement payments, attorney's fees, and costs, American Mayhem LLC, individually and dba American Dream Nut Butter American Dream Cookie Company, LLC, Inc. shall pay $25,000.00 in total.
Injunctive Relief:
Beginning sixty (60) days after the Effective Date (the “Compliance Date”), American Dream shall be permanently enjoined from manufacturing for sale in the State of California, “Distributing into the State of California,” or directly selling in the State of California, (1) any Lead Covered Product that exposes a person to a “Daily Lead Exposure Level” of more than 0.5 micrograms of lead per day and/or (2) any Mercury Covered Product that exposes a person to a “Daily Mercury Exposure Level” of more than 0.3 micrograms of mercury per day and/or (3) any Cadmium Covered Product that exposes as person to a “Daily Cadmium Exposure Level” of more than 4.1 micrograms of cadmium per day, all pursuant to the testing methodologies and level of quantification set forth in Section 3 unless such Covered Product meets the warning requirements under Section 3.2.
