Green Boy
After testing products from Green Boy we found 4 products that we allege to violate Proposition 65 regarding alleged heavy metal contamination. Below is the timeline of events of the case between ERC and Green Boy LLC.
NOTICE I
On February 12, 2025, the Environmental Research Center filed a Notice of Violation of California Law Proposition 65, against Green Boy Products LLC.
In this action, ERC alleges that these specific products, manufactured, distributed, or sold by Green Boy contain lead and PFOA, chemicals listed under Proposition 65 as developmental toxins and known to cause cancer. They expose consumers to levels requiring a Proposition 65 warning.
The products under investigation are:
Green Boy 100% Plant-Based Mung Bean Protein Powder Vegan Unflavored - Perfluorooctanoic Acid (PFOA)
Green Boy Chickpea Plant-Based Protein Powder – Lead, Perfluorooctanoic Acid (PFOA)
NOTICE II
On March 7, 2025, the Environmental Research Center filed a Notice of Violation of California Law Proposition 65, against Green Boy Products LLC.
In this action, ERC alleges that these specific products, manufactured, distributed, or sold by Green Boy contain lead and mercury, chemicals listed under Proposition 65 as developmental toxins and known to cause cancer. They expose consumers to levels requiring a Proposition 65 warning.
The products under investigation are:
Green Boy 100% Plant-Based Plant Bake Protein Made From Fava Beans Vegan Unflavored - Lead
Green Boy 100% Plant-Based Mung Bean Protein Powder Vegan Unflavored - Lead
Green Boy 100% Plant-Based Fava Bean Protein Powder Vegan Unflavored – Lead, Mercury
SETTLEMENT
A settlement was reached on September 6, 2024. In full satisfaction of all potential civil penalties, additional settlement payments, attorney's fees, and costs, Green Boy Products LLC, shall pay ERC $25,000.00 in total.
Injunctive Relief:
Beginning 60 days after the Effective Date (the “Compliance Date”), Green Boy shall be permanently enjoined from manufacturing for sale in the State of California, “Distributing into the State of California,” or directly selling in the State of California, (1) any Lead Covered Product that exposes a person to a “Daily Lead Exposure Level” of more than 0.5 micrograms of lead per day and/or (2) any Mercury Covered Product that exposes a person to a “Daily Mercury Exposure Level” of more than 0.3 micrograms of mercury per day and/or (3) any PFOA Covered Product that exposes a person to any amount of PFOA that can be reliably detected, all pursuant to the testing methodologies and level of quantification set forth in Section 3 unless such Covered Product meets the warning requirements under Section 3.2.
