C2O Coconut Water
After testing products from C2O Coconut Water, LLC, we found 6 products that we allege are in violation of Proposition 65 regarding heavy metal contamination. Below is the timeline of events of the case between ERC and C2O Coconut Water, LLC.
Notice of Violation I
On February 8, 2024, the Environmental Research Center filed a Notice of Violation of California Law Proposition 65, against C2O Coconut Water, LLC.
In this action, ERC alleges that three specific products, manufactured, distributed, or sold by C2O Coconut Water, LLC, contain lead, a chemical listed under Proposition 65 as a carcinogen and a reproductive toxin, and expose consumers to levels requiring a Proposition 65 warning.
The products under investigation are:
C2O Coconut Water with Pineapple - Lead
C2O Coconut Water with Pulp - Lead
C2O Coconut Water the Original Flavor - Lead
Notice of Violation II
On February 15, 2024, the Environmental Research Center filed a Notice of Violation of California Law Proposition 65, against C2O Coconut Water, LLC.
In this action, ERC alleges that three specific products, manufactured, distributed, or sold by C2O Coconut Water, LLC, contain lead, a chemical listed under Proposition 65 as a carcinogen and a reproductive toxin, and expose consumers to levels requiring a Proposition 65 warning.

On July 15, 2025, the Environmental Research Center filed a Notice of Violation of California Law Proposition 65, against C2O Coconut Water, LLC Tipp Distributors, Inc., individually and dba Novamex and Nova Naturals Tipp Distributors, L.P., individually and dba Novamex and Nova Naturals NovaNatural, L.L.C.
In this action, ERC alleges that three specific products, manufactured, distributed, or sold by C2O Coconut Water, LLC, contain Bisphenol A (BPA), a chemical listed under Proposition 65 as a carcinogen and a reproductive toxin, and expose consumers to levels requiring a Proposition 65 warning.

Settlement
A settlement was reached on December 18, 2024. In full satisfaction of all potential civil penalties, additional settlement payments, attorney's fees, and costs, C2O Coconut Water, LLC shall pay $212,000.00 in total.
Injunctive Relief:
Beginning on the Compliance Date, C2O shall be permanently enjoined from manufacturing for sale in the State of California, “Distributing into the State of California,” or directly selling in the State of California, any Covered Product that exposes a person to a “Daily Lead Exposure Level” of more than 0.5 micrograms of lead per day unless it meets the warning requirements under Section 3.2. Nothing in this Consent Judgment shall prevent C2O from manufacturing, distributing, or selling Covered Products that comply with Sections 3.2 or 3.3.
