After testing products from Guru Beverage Co., we found 8 products we allege to violate Proposition 65 regarding heavy metal contamination. Below is the timeline of events of the case between ERC and Guru Beverage Co.


Notice of Violation I

On December 18, 2024, the Environmental Research Center filed a Notice of Violation of California Law Proposition 65, against Guru Beverage Co.

In this action, ERC alleges that 7 specific products, manufactured, distributed, or sold by Guru, contain lead and/or mercury, chemicals listed under Proposition 65 as carcinogens and reproductive toxins, and expose consumers to levels requiring a Proposition 65 warning. 

The products under investigation are:

  1. Guru Organic Energy - Lead

  2. Guru Organic Energy Yerba Mate - Lead

  3. Guru Good Energy + Focus Tropical Punch With Theanine – Lead, Mercury

  4. Guru Organic Energy Peach Mango Punch – Lead

  5. Guru Good Energy + Focus Fruit Punch With Theanine – Lead, Mercury

  6. Guru Lite Good Energy Lite - Lead

  7. Guru Good Energy + Yerba Mate Açai Berry With Yerba Mate – Lead, Mercury


Notice of Violation II

On October 24, 2025, the Environmental Research Center filed a Notice of Violation of California Law Proposition 65, against Guru Beverage Co.

In this action, ERC alleges that 1 specific product, manufactured, distributed, or sold by Guru, contains Bisphenol A (BPA), a chemical listed under Proposition 65 as a reproductive toxin, and exposes consumers to levels requiring a Proposition 65 warning. 

The products under investigation are:

  1. Guru Zero Wild Strawberry Watermelon Good Energy +Boost 140 MG Natural Caffeine Metabolism Boost- Bisphenol A (BPA)
